Bad Romance / Performance Art

Yesterday I went to see my latest addiction,
Bad Romance FAIL aka Bad Romance 1.mov on YouTube

I saw this...

"This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."

Oh, no ! Yesterday it had 605,969 views

The video is unique... and controversial

The “comments” are part of the story

Some people said terrible things about her; mainly about her weight

Some people also said nice and/or constructive things about the video

Then, there are those who think she's "Troll be trollin' " and she did it for camp or to troll

After many viewings, my opinion has came down squarely on the side of Melissa:  Performance Art

Her voice:  a pencil sketch over the music
In this overlaid/backdrop vocal, it is hard to discern... but she does have singing ability

Her lower key is just fine, if displayed in another setting

Classical poses

Good scene changes

Good gray on black background

Makes the absolute most out of production values available; most from the least

Hand gestures and dance movements, do they have a meaning?

They refer to the original.

Blur to Focus

"Upward, far away, heroic stare" German Expressionism and propaganda art

Images in her sunglasses

Casualness and full commitment

Pullback to full body shot

Monster Claw dance, refers to original

Good staging, composition and grey/black color choices

Triangle composition Claw Hand Signs

Stays active; moves right along from scene change to scene change

Switch to wearing White, further back dancing with Shadows as backups

Striking poses, refers to original

Claw, pep squad, cheerleader dance, hand and arm signals, also referential to the original

In the cabinet... take her out of the cabinet setting and superimpose other image e.g., pushing/leaning on the world globe
Classical Poses and Composition

A lot of attention was paid to Composition and Scene changes

Eye Makeup creative

Great poses

Good close ups

Rock the Boat in a White Dress at 1:56

Claw Paw hand gestures, referential to the original

Red Pants Composition and Classic Poses makes full use of the space

Many people mentioned her shoes, here at 4:04

More great Close ups
